How a Flooring Installation Runs
Walkthrough and Measure
We measure each room, note the transitions and check what is already on the slab. How the space is used — entry, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom — drives the recommendation as much as the look you are after.
Material Selection
We narrow the options to what suits the room and the substrate, then compare them side by side: wear layer, finish, plank or tile size, and how each behaves in a dry climate. Samples are viewed in the actual light of the room.
Slab Testing and Prep
The slab is checked for moisture and flatness, high spots are ground down, low spots are filled, and moving cracks are isolated. Skipping this step is the most common reason a good floor fails early.
Demolition and Haul-Away
Existing flooring, tack strip and adhesive come up, and the debris leaves the property. We contain dust at the work area so the rest of the house stays usable while the job runs.
Layout and Dry Fit
Before anything is fixed down we set the starting line and the direction of the run, so planks or tiles land cleanly at doorways and the cut pieces fall where they are least visible.
Installation
The floor goes in to the manufacturer’s specification — the right underlayment, adhesive or mortar, the correct expansion gap at the perimeter, and grout joints kept consistent across the run.
Trim, Transitions and Cleanup
Baseboard or shoe moulding is refitted, thresholds tie the new floor to tile and carpet at each doorway, and the work area is cleaned before we walk it with you.
Final Walkthrough and Care
We review the finished floor with you, correct anything on the punch list, and leave you with the cleaning and care routine that keeps that particular material looking right in a dusty climate.

Which flooring holds up best in a Las Vegas home?
For most of the valley the practical answers are porcelain tile, luxury vinyl plank and engineered hardwood. Porcelain is the most durable underfoot and stays cool in summer. Luxury vinyl plank is dimensionally stable, forgiving over a slab and quiet. Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood surface with far less seasonal movement than solid boards. The right choice depends on the room, not the whole house.
Can solid hardwood be installed over a concrete slab?
It can, but it is the fussiest option here. Solid boards react to moisture and to very dry indoor air, and over a slab they need a subfloor or an approved adhesive system plus moisture testing first. In a valley home where the air is dry most of the year, engineered hardwood usually delivers the same look with far less risk of gapping or cupping.
Why does the slab have to be tested before installation?
A concrete slab can hold moisture and it is rarely perfectly flat. Moisture that migrates up through it will attack adhesives and warp planks, and dips or high spots telegraph through a finished floor as hollow spots, lippage or cracked grout. Testing and grinding or filling the slab first is what makes the installation last.
Do you have to remove the old flooring first?
Usually yes. Tile, adhesive residue and tack strip all have to come off before the slab can be prepared properly. Occasionally a sound existing surface can be floated over, but that is a decision made after the slab is inspected, not before.
How much of the house has to be out of use during a flooring job?
